I have a business network that has a window 2000 server
runing Terminal Services. When I connect remotely with
any Windows XP machine (using RDC)I do not have access to
the local printer in the termial server session. I do not
have this problem if the machine that is connecting to the
terminal server is running 98 OR 2000. The printers that
are connedcted to my XP machines are standard HP 4000
series and the drivers are loaded on the terminal server.
The "Printer" check mark is selected in on the "Local
Resouce" tab of the RDC settings / file.

Hmm...

So you are saying that you are connecting from an XP client with printer
port redirection selected, and an HP 4000 series printer connected to the
parallel port, to a Windows 2000 terminal server which has these drivers
available and it isn't working?

Have you checked the event logs at the terminal server for clues?

On the client PC, for your network connection, make sure that both 1
Client for Microsoft Networks and 2) File & Printer Sharing ar
installed AND enabled (i.e. checked). Then reconnect using Remot
Desktop (with the local printer checkbox checked) and see if your loca
printer shows up in the list of printers when you try to prin
something.

This information came from Microsoft Support and worked for me, as
was having the same problem you are
